Magazine Reflection

This was a very fun project to do, although it was one of the harder ones we attempted this year. Finding a picture was sort of hard, but actually drawing it accurately was very difficult. I did put quite a bit of time into this one, but it didn't turn out very well in my opinion. Some of the characters look nice, but most of them turned out nothing like how the actually look. One thing I did do well with was some of the background imagery. In the end, it turned out fairly well, I just wish I could have done a bit better with some of the details.

Water Color

This project taught me that watercolors can be pretty cool. I always thought that they were just for kids to mess around with! When I was asked to make three pieces that created a sequence, my mind went blank. I could not think of anything creative at all for the life of me. I ended going with what is probably a very generic and repeated design of a sunrise, daytime, and a sunset. While it may have been uncreative in regards to the idea itself, I still feel like it was executed well. I used what I learned about using watercolors to try to make it look nice, and I think it worked out great.

This was probably my second favorite project behind the Skeleton Character, just because of how fun watercolors can be.

Cell Animation

This is the project I will look back on and say, "why didn't I put more time into that". The truth is that I spent a lot of my class time goofing off when we were supposed to be completing this project. I only took 2 or 3 class periods to complete this. Then, I ended up loosing my cell and having to start over with that. The background itself looks decent in my eyes, but what really ruins this is the character. There is nothing about him that makes special, he's just some guy in a red shirt and jeans.

At the end of the day, I should have tried harder with this project. It was actually pretty fun and I could have made something amazing.

Skeleton Character

This has to be my favorite project we did all semester. I am very into animated characters, and thoroughly enjoyed drawing one of my favorites from when I was younger. The funny thing about this drawing is that my rough draft actually turned out perfect, whereas in my final, pikachu turned out a bit chubbier than he should be! But there's nothing wrong with that, I still think that it turned out very well. Of course the skeleton could be been done better, but I worked on it to the best of my ability. Again, this was probably my favorite project I was able to complete in this class, just because of how fun this character was to draw.

Letterform #2

When I started this project, I had the mindset of making it better than the previous one. I put most of my effort into making cleaner lines with the paint and just making it look altogether nicer. Overall, I think it turned out much better. You can see some minor mistakes in both of these images, but not nearly as bad as Letterform #1. There are just a few splotches of paint where somebody probably bumped into the table!

I thought that both of the letterform projects were somewhat interesting. It was kind of fun to choose different letters and completely change them around to make a piece of art with them. I also enjoyed the painting process, because painting is always more interesting than drawing with a pencil in my opinion!

Letterform #1

This project was the second project I had completed in Art class. Overall, I am somewhat disappointed with how this one turned out. I should have spent more time making sure my lines were crisp and clean. I like the letters I choose, but they don't look very well because wasn't able to execute it properly. On the bottom left square, you can see how I accidentally painted in a part of the letter. It didn't look good, so I just painted completely over the letter to make it look better.

This project didn't turn out terribly, but if I had put more effort into it, it would have turned out a ton better than it did.

Scavenger Hunt

This was my first attempt at drawing anything in Art class. For my first drawing I thought it turned out quite well. First of all, I liked what I was able to do with the shading for the most part. I had very little idea of what I was supposed to be doing, so with that it mind it looks very good. The drawing itself was a little small but that's not a big deal. Some of the things I didn't like were the ribbon and with the bow. The ribbon didn't turn out how I had in mind, and ending up at a weird angle. The ribbon was a disaster. I had no idea what to do with and ended up scribbling to try and make it look like something! All in all, though, I think for my first time, this project turned out quite well.
